How do opt-outs work in Grassroots?

Opt-outs are any recipients that no longer wish to be contacted for a particular client. Recipients can opt-out automatically by replying with a keyword and the system will remove them. At times, you may need to manually opt-out some recipients in the platform. This article explains how to add new opt-outs AND how our system handles them.

Types of Opt-Outs

Reply Automatics: These contacts have replied "STOP" to a message sent by your client. These opt-outs are stored at the client level and do not apply across your entire organization.

Lookup Automatics: These contacts are opted out during our classification process when you upload a contact list. This typically means the number was identified as a non-mobile number that cannot receive messages. To prevent delivery failures, we automatically opt it out. These opt-outs are system-wide, so you may see numbers that were previously opted out by other clients on the platform.

Manual Opt-Outs: These are contacts manually opted out by you or our team using the opt-out feature in the platform. Manual opt-outs can be applied on a per-client basis or across all clients, depending on your selection.

Manual Opt-Out Instructions:
