How do I manage contacts lists in Grassroots?

In Grassroots, all contacts are grouped by lists and are uploaded via a csv file. This article explains how to create a contact list and upload contacts to it.

PLEASE NOTE:  Contact lists will often take time to process and classify, especially if these are brand new contacts.  Please allow for some time for lists to process if at all possible.  We highly recommend uploading lists as far in advance as possible to avoid any delays in campaign deploys.  With that said, we know this is not always possible and we are always working to improve contact list upload speeds. 

1.  On the navigation sidebar, click on 'Contacts'.

2.  Select 'Contact Lists'.

3.  Click on the 'Add Contact List'.

4.  Fill out name and select a csv file to upload.  

5.  Click on the 'Save' button.  

6.  System will start uploading contacts.  Contact list will go through the following statuses:

  • Processing - system is uploading the contacts.
  • Classifying - system is classifying new contacts. 
  • Ready - contact list upload and classification was successful. 
  • Failed - contact list upload or classification failed; contact list will need to be updated and re-uploaded.

Please note:  a csv template is available to ensure that all data is properly entered.  You can download it from the create contact list page. 

View/Edit a Contact List
 

1.  On the navigation sidebar, click 'Contacts'.

2.  Select 'Contact Lists'.

3.  Select the contact list you wish to view or edit.

4.  Edit any of the fields or upload a new file.

5.  Click on the 'Save' button.  

View Contact List Breakdown
 

This article explains how to view how many number types a contact list has.

1.  On the navigation sidebar, click on 'Contacts'.

2.  Select 'Contact Lists'.

3.  To view how many mobile, VOIP, and unclassified numbers there are, click on the 'Contact List Breakdown'.

5.  To view the time zone breakdown, click on the 'Time Zone Breakdown' 

Calculate Number of Leads Per Client
 

Grassroots allows you to calculate an exact number of leads a contact list will have per a particular client, campaign type, and message type.  This article explains how to run a leads calculator on a contact list. 

1.  On the navigation sidebar, click 'Contacts'.

2.  Select 'Contact Lists'.

3.  Select a contact list you would like to calculate from.

4.  Click into the 'Lead Generation Calculator' section. 

5.  Select a client, campaign type, and message type.  

6.  Click on the 'Calculate Leads' button.

6.  System will calculate and display how many leads the particular client/campaign/message type selection will have. 

Export a Contact List
 

This article explains how to export a contact list. 

1.  On the navigation sidebar, click 'Contacts'.

2.  Select 'Contact Lists'.

3.  Select the contact list you wish to export.

4.  Click on the 'Export' button.

5.  System will download the file as a csv.  The file will also include phone number type and time zone breakdown data

Delete a Contact List
 

This articles explains how to delete a contact list.

1.  On the navigation sidebar, click 'Contacts'.

2.  Select 'Contact Lists'. 

3.  Select the contact list you wish to delete.

4.  Click on the 'Delete' button.

5.  Confirm the deletion.  

6.  System will remove the contact list from the records list.
